Old Testament Survey 3

The Intro

Old Testament Survey provides an overview of the message of the Old Testament, both at the level of individual books and within the larger canon of Scripture. Students will not only grasp the main theme of each book but also see how each contributes to the Bible’s overarching message (big picture). In this third part of the survey, we will trace the flow of redemptive history through the message of the prophets, focusing on God’s warnings of judgment, promises of restoration, and the coming Messiah (Isaiah–Malachi).

The Goals

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Understand how the message of the prophets fits within the unfolding storyline of redemptive history, especially in relation to judgment, exile, and restoration.

  • Deepen their worship of God by treasuring Him above all else in heart and life.
