Biblical Counseling

What is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical Counseling is a Christ-centered approach of relating the Bible to a person who is struggling under the weight of personal sin and/or suffering to bring a genuine change in the inner person that pleases God.

Key Beliefs

  • The Bible is a God-given Word that is sufficient for a believer to understand his need for Christ, how to please the Lord, and how to live a God-honoring life regardless of the circumstances (2 Pet 1:3; 2 Tim 3:16-17; Ps 19:7-8).
  • The Bible is the authoritative source of truth. When properly interpreted and applied, it possesses the right and power to govern belief and conduct in those receiving biblical counsel.
  • Genuine change in the inner person of a believer receiving counseling is totally dependent on the ministry of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26; Phil 2:12-13; Gal 5:22-23) . Biblical Counseling is therefore dependent on prayer and God’s movement as the person comes to understand the meaning and application of the Bible to the current situation.
